This Privacy Policy explains what personal data selekty.com collects when you visit or shop with us, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. We’re committed to handling your data lawfully, transparently, and only for the purposes set out below.

1. Who We Are (Data Controller)

selekty.com is operated by JDCM Ventures Limited, a company registered in Ireland (company number 787791), with its registered office at Unit 2, 2 Bridge Street, Athlone, Co. Westmeath, N37 F1W4, Ireland, which is the data controller responsible for your personal data. For any privacy question or request, contact us at support@selekty.com.

2. What We Collect

Information you give us

  • Account details — your name, email address, and password if you create an account.
  • Order details — billing and delivery address, phone number, and the items you buy.
  • Communications — anything you send us via our contact form, chat widget, email, product reviews, or a back-in-stock request.
  • Marketing preferences — your consent to receive our newsletter and offers.

Information we collect automatically

When you browse the Site we may collect your IP address, device and browser type, and how you use the Site, through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 4).

Payment information

Card payments are processed securely by our payment provider, Stripe. Your full card details are entered directly with Stripe and are never stored on our servers.

3. How and Why We Use Your Data

We use your personal data only where we have a lawful basis to do so:

  • To process and deliver your orders, including sharing delivery details with the brands and partners who fulfil them — necessary to perform our contract with you.
  • To take payment and prevent fraudcontract and our legitimate interest in secure trading.
  • To manage your account and provide supportcontract and legitimate interest.
  • To send marketing emails about products and offers — only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
  • To understand and improve the Sitewith your consent, through the preference and statistics cookies described in Section 4.
  • To meet legal and tax obligations, such as keeping order and invoice records — legal obligation.
  • To keep the Site secure and prevent abuse — legitimate interest.

4. Cookies and Analytics

We use essential cookies to make the Site work (for example, to remember your cart and keep you logged in). With your consent we also set a small number of preference and statistics cookies, which remember your choices and help us understand how the Site is used. These are set by Selekty itself — we do not currently use any third-party analytics service such as Google Analytics. Our payment provider Stripe also sets cookies when you pay, to process the payment securely and prevent fraud.

You can accept or decline non-essential cookies through our cookie banner, and you can change your browser settings at any time to block or delete cookies. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the Site from working.

5. Who We Share Your Data With

We never sell your personal data. We share it only with the parties we need to run the store, and only so far as necessary:

  • The brands and fulfilment partners who ship your order, so they can deliver it.
  • Our payment provider (Stripe) to process payments.
  • Our email and newsletter platform to send order updates and, with your consent, marketing emails.
  • Our hosting and backup providers who store the Site and its data securely on our behalf.
  • Professional advisers and authorities where we’re legally required to, or to protect our rights.

Each of these providers processes your data under contract and only on our instructions, except where they act as controllers in their own right (such as a payment provider meeting its own legal duties).

6. International Transfers

Some of our providers may process data outside the European Economic Area (EEA). Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as an adequacy decision or the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses — to make sure your data stays protected to EU standards.

7. How Long We Keep It

We keep personal data only as long as we need it. Order and invoice records are retained for the period required by Irish tax and accounting law (typically six years). Account data is kept until you close your account, and marketing data until you unsubscribe. After that, we delete or anonymise your data.

8. Your Rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Correct data that’s inaccurate or incomplete;
  • Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”), where applicable;
  • Restrict or object to how we process it;
  • Port your data to another provider;
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.

To exercise any of these, email support@selekty.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Irish supervisory authority, the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie), or the authority in your own EU country.

9. Data Security

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is ever completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond promptly to any incident.

10. Children

The Site is not directed at children, and we don’t knowingly collect data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we’ll delete it.

11. Third-Party Links

Our Site may link to external websites we don’t control. This Privacy Policy doesn’t apply to them, so please review their own privacy notices.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published here, marked by the “last updated” date above.
